Studio Portraiture
October 4, 2009There are as many opportunities in creating portraits as there are people in the world. The main objective of our portrait workshops is to provide a solid foundation and thorough understanding of posing and lighting techniques. We will explore the tried and true lighting patterns and also experiment with some alternative options. Weather it’s traditional or intimate portraiture, you’ll go home with a heavy tool box.
The day begins with demonstrations of a variety of lighting setups and effective metering. The demonstrations in conjunction with finished images provides a strong foundation for the remainder of the day. Each photographer will have one on one time with the model and individualized instruction working with their choice of lighting set up.
The topics covered include:
- Use of a stylist
- Lights ability to describe texture and beauty
- Setting up and posing your subject
- Strobe lights and metering
- Natural light and metering (depending on the studio location)
